When Stan came from work. When he couldn’t see his son, Mike, he went to the kitchen to talk with his wife Molly.
Molly was a-stay-at-home mother, since she gave birth to their son Mike. Then he asked that if Mike was upstairs. Then Molly explained that he didn’t come back home since school hours were over.
Stan questioned that if his son had a girlfriend. Molly laughed, as she explained that their son was only 11. Then Mike arrived, while his parents were at the table, dining.
Then he went to upstairs to change his clothes. His knees were in bruises, and Stan noticed it since Mike wore shorts. He asked about them and Mike quickly told his father that he fell.
Stan decided to question his son then, as he was coming home late and now he had bruises. Mike sweared as he was nervous. Molly calmed Stan, as she remembered to him that their son was 11.
Then he asked about why he was coming late. Mike revealed that he was doing homework with his friends at the library. Those answers were not enough for Stan, as he decided to go to school exit a day after.
He first went to the library, but his son was not there. Then he heard a music coming from gym. He saw Mike in there, he was dancing in a ballet class. He couldn’t believe his son was dancing ballet.
He yelled “MIKE!” with anger. The music stopped, and everyone were shocked. Stan went towards Mike as he kept asking what he was doing, while Mike tried to explain that he was dancing.
As the teacher tried to intervene, Stan yelled at the man with anger too. He took Mike from his arm, and pulled him outside with furiously.
Mike pleaded for his father to stop. But Stan kept told him that he was not a girl, and boys do not do ballet. “You are a man, and you need to act like one!” Stan yelled.
At the home, Mike was not leaving his room. A day later, Molly took her son, and Mike was carrying a sports bag. Stan asked where they were going as he was angry again. Molly told him that Mike was going to a friend’s house of his, where he will get ready for a performance.
Stan was angry again and refused. He didn’t want to let his son go and do ballet. Then he learned that Molly knew from the beginning, and she decided not to tell him since she knew how her husband would react.
Then Stan remembered his childhood. He loved playing piano, but his father thought that it was girly, so he forced him to stop playing. He remembered how much pain he felt when he lost something he enjoyed.
Two days later, Stan was there to watch his son perform. He was amazed with how good of a ballet his son was. He later couldn’t hold his tears back because he was almost destroying Mike’s hopes, and something his son was enjoying doing.
