The actress was born under the name Demi Gene Guynes, on the 11th of November, 1962. Her father Charles Harmon Sr., Air Force airman, left her mother, Virginia King, and abandoned his family.
Later, Virginia married with Dan Guynes, and due to his job, Demi had travelled a lot in her childhood. She had struggled a lot in that time, as she underwent two surgeries for strabismus, and suffered from a kidney disease.
When she was 13, she learned that Guynes was her stepfather, and moved in with her grandmother since she didn’t want to live with her mother and stepfather. Later, she left Fairfax High School, and started to modelling. In 1981, she married Freddy Moore, and pursued a career in acting industry.
Despite their marriage ended five years later, Demi choose to stay with her ex-husband’s surname. She had worked in projects like, General Hospital and films like Choices, No Small Affair, and Blame It on Rio.
She had her breakthrough with Ghost in 1990, where she later starred in A Few Good Men, Indecent Proposal, and Disclosure. When it was 1995, she became the highest paid actress in Hollywood, with the movie Striptease.
When it was 1987, she married Bruce Willis, and they were the most famous couple of Hollywood at that time. They welcomed three daughters, Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah. Until 2000, they stayed together.
In 2005, she married Ashton Kutcher, but divorced in 2013.
In 2019, Moore published her memoir, “Inside Out.” She had revealed her childhood traumas where she had alcoholic parents, and a family life in her childhood, where it was filled with chaos and infidelity.
She revealed that her mother attempted to take her own life when Moore was 12. “I remember using my fingers, the small fingers of a child, to dig the pills my mother had tried to swallow, out of her mouth,” the famous actress shared in her book.
After she learned that Guynes was not her biological father, she became responsible for her mother. She would go with her mother to local bars and clubs. After that, a man raped her when she was 15, and said that he paid $500 to her mother.
“It was rape,” 61-year-old actress said. “And a devastating betrayal, revealed by the man’s cruel question: how does it feel to be whored by your mother for $500?”
“I think, in my deep heart no. I don’t think it was a straightforward transaction. But she still did give him the access, and put me in harm’s way.”
