Elliot Morris had a huge real estate company. He was going to build a mall, so he needed the perfect landscape for it. As he was in search for such a location, he found Joe Brooke’s land. He fixed his eyes upon the land.
As Elliot talked with the city, through his power, he now had the legal documents to tear down Joe’s property. Joe begged Elliot. He explained that this house was the only thing he has. The old man also revealed that he had nobody in his life. He was alone.
Elliot didn’t listen the old man’s pleas. He explained that he talked with the mayor, which whom he gained his favour through illegal ways, and he told to old Joe that he will destroy the house in two weeks.
Joe didn’t accept his fate, as he tried to protest, but in the end, he couldn’t do anything, and he needed to leave in two weeks.
Joe’s house was staying outside of the city, and for that reason he didn’t have any neighbours too. No one come for his aid. Joe prayed for a miracle, and didn’t pack anything. But the day arrived.
Joe pleaded when Elliot and his demolishing team arrived. Elliot told him that it was not his problem, and handed a check over to Joe. Then he told one of his men to take Joe to a nursing home.
Joe refused the check, and told Elliot that he changed a lot. As he ordered for demolishing to start, he stated that he will return in few hours.
When he returned, the ruins of the house were on the ground. As he was walking over them, a picture got his attention. It was his mother’s picture and he was shocked to find it in there. Then he noticed that his mother was holding a baby. He then realised that the bay was no one else than himself.
He rushed to the nursing home with the picture. Joe cried and didn’t want to see Elliot when he saw him. Elliot asked about the picture he found in the ruins. He was angry. He was sure that his mother was a single mother.
Then Joe revealed the truth. He explained that he found Samantha, Elliot’s mother, on the road with her baby almost 30 years ago. He was returning from his wife’s funeral at that time, and he found a hopeless single mother under the rain.
He helped Samantha, who was kicked out of her house by her boyfriend, Elliot’s father. Joe then revealed that Samantha became the daughter Joe never had.
Elliot asked then if he took Samantha in, why did she move out. Joe revealed that he bought a house, and helped her to start a business. He also explained that Samantha would visit him occasionally, until her passing. He stated that he was in her funeral, but Elliot didn’t notice him.
Elliot couldn’t believe what he just heard. It was a shocking revelation. He immediately took Joe in his house, and ordered his company to build a new house for Joe on the land.
He apologized to him and promised that he will change and be kind. Until Joe passed away, Elliot visited him whenever he could, and would take him to the neighbourhood he created for homeless people.
