Grace was reading the bedtime story to her children, while her husband was on the kitchen, preparing their drinks. As the children, Roy and Nancy fell asleep, she kissed her children and went downstairs.
She noticed that her husband, Kirk’s face was pale. He was talking to someone over the phone. As he put the phone down, asked Grace to sit.
Then he revealed that her father, John had passed away. She couldn’t spoke, as she was frozen with shock. Her heart was aching. She started to cry, as she explained that she couldn’t even say goodbye to her father.
Kirk hugged to his wife, as she kept crying on Kirk’s chest. When the morning arrived, they were ready for heading to her father’s farm. Grace was feeling guilty, as she couldn’t visited her father in recent years as much as she would in the past.
Her childhood memories were coming to her mind as they passed the entrance of the farm. She then noticed that her brother, Mike, with his expensive car, who was leaning on his car.
He was not seemingly troubled with his father’s passing. It was clear that his mind was in his work, as he was already talking with a customer in his Bluetooth headset.
As Grace waited for a hug, it took few seconds for Mike to finish his conversation and hugged. He asked about their middle brother, Tom, who was late again.
Tom arrived in the evening. The siblings were not close to one another, as their lives led them to separate ways. The lawyer started to talk about their father’s will then.
The money was donated to a charity, which angered the brothers. Then the lawyer explained that the farm will belong to whom wants it, and if nobody wants to keep it, it will be sold and the siblings will only receive $10,000.
The brothers didn’t want to be bothered with the farm. Grace was silent. She then revealed that she can’t allow the farm to be sold. Her father loved his farm. Her brothers didn’t like that idea. They complained.
The lawyer handed a paper along with the deed to the farm. It was a part of the will. The owner of the farm was going to receive that note. There were numbers on the note. As the brothers went back to their lives, she stayed in the farm, unsure of what to do.
She took care of the animals, and cleaned the place. Kirk then explained that he needs to be at home for work, and the children were supposed to be at school. Grace already wanted to be alone, and she sent them back.
On the next morning, while cleaning the bookshelves, she noticed a safe which was locked. She put the numbers on the note she was handed, and the safe got unlocked. Inside, there were many jewelry, some gold and a letter.
In that letter, her father was sure that Grace would keep the farm, and that she was the owner of the content of the safe. John was sure that Grace would wanted her father’s and her childhood memories to stay within the family.
