The former member of One Direction, 31-year-old Liam Payne, lost his life on the 16th of October. Payne fell from the third floor balcony in his room at the CasaSur Palermo hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
After Payne’s passing, his body was taken to the city’s morgue, where authorities had examined and performed an autopsy. After the report of autopsy was released, National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office stated that Payne lost his life from “polytrauma, internal and external hemorrhage.”
Despite Payne was alone at the time of his death, authorities stated that the investigation is continuing as “doubtful death.”
On the report, it is stated that Payne was “going through some kind of outbreak due to substance abuse.”
The authorities found narcotics and alcoholic beverages in Liam Payne’s room at the hotel.
When an emergency call from the hotel was made moments before Payne’s passing, the hotel workers stated that the singer had destroyed his room and that he might be under influence of some substances.
Back in time, Payne confessed that he struggled with addiction to “pills and booze.”
“In the band… the best way to secure us, because of how big we’d got, was just to lock us in our rooms. What’s in the room? A mini-bar,” Payne said in 2021.
“So at a certain point I thought, I’m just going to have a party-for-one and that seemed to carry on for many years of my life. Then you look back at how long you’ve been drinking and you’re like, ‘Jesus Christ, that’s a long time.’”
